Gov't approves sustainable agricultural development strategy through 2030
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh has signed a decision approving a sustainable agricultural and rural development strategy for 2021-2030, vision toward 2050.
The strategy sets goal to build agricultural commodity production and develop agriculture based on local advantages with high, sustainable productivity, high quality, high efficiency, and strong competitiveness in the region and the world.
By 2030, annual growth rate of agriculture, forestry and fishery is expected to reach 2.5-3 percent while annual export volume of agro-forestry-fishery products averaging 5-6 percent.
The Government targets to reduce workers in agriculture to below 20 percent of the country's workforce and raise the rate of trained labor to more than 70 percent.
The strategy looks to increase rural residents' income by 2.5-3 times compared to that in 2020 and lower annual multidimensional poverty rate in rural areas by 1-1.5 percent on average.
The Government expects to that Viet Nam will be named among the world's leading agricultural countries with a modern, effective and environmental-friendly agricultural processing industry by 2050.
Particularly, there will be no poor household in rural areas, according to the strategy.
Last year, export turnover of agricultural, forest and fishery products reached a record high of US$48.6 billion, an increase of nearly 15 per cent compared to 2020.
