Dong Dinh Communal House Festival and the Tay Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival in Tien Yen

On February 9, the opening ceremony of the Dong Dinh Communal House Festival and the 2025 Tay Ethnic Culture and Sports Festival was held at Dong Dinh village, Phong Dụ commune, Tien Yen district.

The ceremony includes the God worship ceremony, the procession and incense offering at Dong Dinh Communal House, the reenactment of the “Le Tong Tong” ritual, and an excerpt from “Lau Then” - one of the distinctive cultural traditions of the Tay people in Dong Dinh village, Phong Du commune.

The festival also features various cultural, artistic, and sports activities, such as stick pushing, tug-of-war, crossbow shooting, men’s and women’s shuttlecock volleyball, river raft racing, and a showcase of Tay ethnic costumes.

Additionally, there will be culinary competitions, including a bánh gio (ash cake) wrapping contest and a food tray presentation contest showcasing Tay cuisine.

Visitors can also experience traditional folk games and shop for local agricultural products at various stalls. They can explore the exhibition space showcasing artifacts reflecting the cultural identity of the Tay ethnic group and enjoy an art exhibition featuring paintings and photographs at the Tay Ethnic Cultural House at Dong Dinh village.
