On the morning of September 13 (the third day of the eighth lunar month in the Year of the Horse), the Cua Ong Temple Festival for the eighth lunar month of the Year of the Horse 2026 officially opened at the Cua Ong Temple Special National Historical Site in Cua Ong Ward, attracting large numbers of residents and visitors who came to offer incense and take part in traditional ceremonies.
The festival is held to commemorate the contributions of Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang and other revered historical figures worshipped at the Cua Ong Temple complex.
According to the programme, a commemorative incense-offering ceremony marking the 713th death anniversary of Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang will take place on September 26. On September 30, an incense-offering ceremony will be held to mark the 726th death anniversary of Hung Dao Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tuan, followed by the closing ceremony, bringing the Cua Ong Temple Festival for the eighth lunar month of the Year of the Horse to an end.
The festival has drawn increasing numbers of residents and visitors to Cua Ong Temple. According to statistics, from the beginning of the year to 4 p.m. on September 12, 2026, Cua Ong Temple had welcomed 221,127 visitors, including 555 international visitors. In September alone, the site had received 12,736 visitors as of the latest count.
Cua Ong Temple is a historical and cultural site closely associated with Hung Nhuong Dai Vuong Tran Quoc Tang, who made significant contributions to the resistance against the Mongol invasions and the defence of Vietnam’s northeastern waters. With a history spanning more than 700 years, the site has become a renowned destination for spiritual and cultural tourism, attracting large numbers of residents and visitors each year.
