Cold weather to blanket northern Việt Nam during Tết

The cold spell is forecast to linger through the country's longest holiday, which lasts from January 20-26.

The Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday will feel a little chilly in northern regions, according to the National Hydrometeorological Forecasting Centre.

The cold spell is forecast to linger through the country's longest holiday, which lasts from January 20-26.

Between January 15-18, the northern region will be cloudy and experience light rains with the average temperature reaching 15 degrees Celcius.

The temperature will drop to 13 degrees Celcius between January 19-24 in mountainous areas.

Rain is forecast during the period, and will continue in the central region, while the Central Highlands and the southern region will see less rain, according to the centre.

There have been no signs of storms or tropical depressions in the East Sea so far.
