Cam Pha celebrates its 10th founding anniversary

Cam Pha city on Feb.20 held a ceremony to celebrate its 10th founding anniversary in the presence of the provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Xuan Ky.

Also attending the ceremony were Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Tuong Van and Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Cao Tuong Huy.

Cam Pha is known as a coal-electricity industrial city and the cradle of the mining working class with a tradition of solidarity and discipline. The city was upgraded from Cam Pha town under the Government’s Resolution No. 04/NQ-CP dated February 21, 2012.

After 10 years of establishment, the city has been promoting the spirit of discipline and solidarity and overcoming countless difficulties in order to gain a range of achievements in all of the socio-economic areas.

In 2021, its annual economic growth rate was 13% and per capita income reached VND 120 million/person/year, nearly 3 times higher than those in 2012. The state budget revenue reached over VND 10,000 billion per year on average, and reached the highest data of VND 13,345 billion in 2021.

Speaking at the ceremony, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Nguyen Xuan Ky, congratulated the city’s Party committee, local authorities and residents on the 10th founding anniversary.

The formalisation of the city has boosted the economy of Quang Ninh’s northeastern region, helped balance development among regions in the province, accelerated the pace of urbanisation and promote its role as an important hub for transport, national defence and security in Vietnam’s Northeast region, he said.

In order to reach further targets, he urged the city to focus on boosting its economic structures to turn the city into a modern, industrial centre, ensuring social security and equality, improving living standards, as well as promoting and developing the region’s unique tourism activities.
