Vietnamese astronomy lovers had the opportunity to see a big and brilliant supermoon last night and early this morning. It is the biggest supermoon that can be observed in 2022.
The Hanoi Astronomical Society (HAS) said that the supermoon could be observed from Wednesday afternoon when it was only 352,000km from the Earth, about 33km closer than normal. At that distance, the moon appears larger and brighter than usual.
According to HAS, the full moon phase occurred at 1:38am, July 14 (Việt Nam time), when the moon was in a pulsating position with regards to the Sun, so the entire moon's surface was illuminated.Meanwhile, according to NASA, at 5pm on July 13 (Việt Nam time), the moon approached the closest point to the Earth in 2022, a distance of 357,264 km. The full moon appeared from 9:38pm.
