2.3 million young fish and shrimp released into Bai Tu Long bay
Millions of young fish and shrimp were released into the sea of Bai Tu Long bay this morning in the aim of rebuilding aquatic resources on the occasion of the traditional day of the Vietnam’s fishery sector which falls on April 1 (1959-2022).
The event was jointly held by the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and the People’s Committee of Cam Pha city. It attracted the participation of a large crowd of fishermen, locals and visitors, praying for a good year with calm seas and bountiful catches.
Approximately 2.3 aquatic species including shrimp and saltwater fish were released to the sea.
Quang Ninh province has recently poured a considerable amount of funding into the protection and development of aquatic resources. In addition to being a pioneer in promulgating local regulations on floating materials to be used in aquaculture and prohibiting destructive fishing occupations, Quang Ninh has also mobilized mutiple resources to release aquatic breeds into natural waters.
According to the Provincial Fisheries Sub-Department, the province has released about 10 million shrimp and fish breeds of all kinds to the waters in the past 5 years. Particularly, in 2022 only, it is estimated that about 3 million aquatic species of all kinds will be released, showing a 30% year-on-year increase.
Localities across the province have so far released nearly 3.5 million aquatic breeds into the natural water environment.
