Terraced rice fields in Binh Lieu

The terraced fields in Binh Lieu have currently transformed into a sea of lush green as young rice plants cover the slopes.They look like green scarves flying over in the wind above green mountain slopes, making the mountainous landscape astonishingly beautiful.

As a borderline mountainous district in the northeast of Quang Ninh, just 120km away from Ha Long City, Binh Lieu shares 43km borders with China and greatly endowned by nature with moderate climate and cool weather and fresh air all year around. This district is home to 5 ethnic groups, including Tay, Dao, San Chi, Chinese and Kinh.

Rice terraces in Binh Lieu are slopes claimed from nature for cultivation in hilly or mountainous areas. Due to the steep feature, fertile soil thanks to it was created by weathered granite rock and mountain cliffs often stock water, local ethnic minority people can grow rice and establish terraced rice fields, one after another, from the foot to nearly top of mountains.
