Quang Ninh showcases culture at Vietnam Festival in Sapporo 2025
The vibrant Vietnam Festival 2025 opened on September 6 in Sapporo, Hokkaido, drawing officials, cultural representatives, and thousands of visitors.
Leading the Vietnamese delegation were Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang, Ambassador Pham Quang Hieu, and Mr. Takebe Tsutomu, Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Parliamentary Friendship Alliance. From Quang Ninh province, Permanent Deputy Party Secretary and Provincial People’s Council Chairwoman Trinh Thị Minh Thanh attended with a provincial delegation.
In his remarks, Acting Minister Tran Duc Thang called the festival “a living symbol of the enduring friendship” and the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan. Over two days, visitors immersed themselves in Vietnamese culture such as traditional food, folk music, delicate handicrafts, and the warmth of its people.

Quang Ninh’s exhibition booth, themed “Sustainable exchange, connecting the future of Vietnam-Japan,” was among the highlights. It featured striking photo displays, ethnic costumes, musical instruments, OCOP products, handicrafts, and promotional films. Performances by Quang Ninh artists lit up the stage, offering Japanese audiences a fresh and captivating glimpse of Vietnamese culture.
Hokkaido Vice Governor Mitsuhashi Tsuyoshi welcomed the delegation, reaffirming the prefecture’s commitment to deeper cooperation with Vietnam, including expanding opportunities for skilled workers, technical interns, and joint training programs.
The festival, warmly embraced by Hokkaido residents and the local Vietnamese community, underscored not only cultural bonds but also growing ties in trade, tourism, and agriculture. For Quang Ninh, it was both a chance to promote its unique heritage and an invitation for future collaboration.
After two days of vibrant activities, the Vietnam Festival in Sapporo, Hokkaido, Japan, officially concluded on the afternoon of September 7.
