Quang Ninh kicks off the 2025-2026 academic year
On September 5, schools across Quang Ninh joined the nationwide celebration marking the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. Teachers, students, and preschoolers took part in joyful ceremonies, officially beginning a new year of learning in the spirit of Vietnam’s “Day of bringing children to school.”
This year’s opening is especially significant, as it is the first since Vietnam adopted a two-tier local government model, with preschools, primary, and lower secondary schools now managed directly at the commune level.
It also coincided with the 80th anniversary of the Ministry of National Education (now the Ministry of Education and Training).
A central ceremony was held at the National Convention Center in Hà Nội and livestreamed to 34 provinces and cities, including Quang Ninh.
All levels of education, from preschool to higher education and vocational training, opened the school year simultaneously for the first time, underscoring unity across the national system.
The 2025-2026 school year will see more than 365,000 students enrolled at 627 schools in Quang Ninh. The provincial education sector has set ambitious goals such as strengthening governance, improving quality at every level, expanding access to equitable education, and building a skilled teaching workforce.
Efforts will also focus on modernizing facilities, maintaining full-day schooling, enhancing literacy programs, and promoting civic, defense, and physical education.
The excitement was palpable at schools throughout the province. More than a ceremonial start, this year’s opening marks a historic milestone that connects local education to the broader national journey, reflecting determination and aspiration to meet new development goals in an era of transformation.
