On Jan 19, in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh will host the ceremony to celebrate the success of the National Tourism Year 2018 and wrap up a successful year of Quang Ninh tourism.
Looking back the year of 2018, Quang Ninh should be very proud of great achievements of tourism sector leaving visitors deep impressions. Quang Ninh in general and Ha Long city in particulary are becoming an attractive, friendly and safe destination.
To sucessfully host the National Tourism Year, Quang Ninh paid much attention to direct the relevant departments, authorities and localities within the province to organise 50 cultural, sportand tourism events, withdrawing a great numbers of domestic and foreign tourists. The highlights included the openning ceremony of the National Tourism Year, Ha Long Carnival 2018, the ceremony to welcome the 15 millionth international tourists to Vietnam at the Ha Long International Cruise Port, Flower festivals in Uong Bi city and Hoanh Bo district. Hosting this important event was great opportunities for Quang Ninh to advertise the image and promote tourism brand of Quang Ninh tourism at national and international scale.
One of the achievements demonstrating the success of the National Tourism Year is the highest ever number of visitor arrivals to the province with the total of 12.2 million, up 21% over the year of 2017, earning a revenue of VND23,600 billion, a rise of 28.1% in comparision with last year, and contributed VND2,750 billion to budget collection, occupying 9% of the total domesic revenue collection, an increase of 31% compared to the last year.
Quang Ninh tourism sector continued to receive good news on the first days of the new year of 2019 with a total number of tourist arrivals of arround 200,000, seing a year-on-year rise of 30% against the same period of 2018, including more than 135,000 international arrivals, up around 25%.
As scheduled, the closing ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2018 will be held in line with the event of the Asean Tourism Forum (ATF) 2019 on Jan.18 In order to ensure the success of these two events, relevant sectors and departments, and the FLC Group have been urged to carry out all the assigned tasks as planned. The year of 2018 could be a succeessful year of Quang Ninh in term of socio-economic development. Of which, tourism played a vital role with significant contribution. With the good signs of the tourism sector in the beginning of the year 2019, Quang Ninh determines the main topic to lead the direction of the year 2019 is to enhance the quality and effectiveness of services towards the target of becoming a service and tourism centre of the region in 2020.
