The opening ceremony of So flower festival was organized on December 12 at Dong Long hamlet in Dong Tam commune, Binh Lieu district.
The festival aims to promote the district’s landscape, people and uphold cultural values, as well as its advantages for tourism development, thereby attracting investments into Binh Lieu to develop it into a tourist attraction.
During the festial, domestic and international tourists have had a great chance to enjoy the beauty of Binh Lieu mountainous district covered in white So flowers. There are a range of activities such as an exhibition on beautiful scenery in Binh Lieu, art performances, a culinary competition, a youth music festival and campfire, a paragliding program named "Flying over So forest", a bike race, a fair of OCOP products and souvenirs, ect.
Other folk games bringing locals and tourists lots of interest include sticking, seed splitting, duck catching, etc.
The festival is a typical cultural activity of ethnic groups in the mountainous district, considered as an occasion for Binh Lieu to introduce and promote the image of So Flower to domestic and foreign tourists, affirming its values which attach with typical features of Binh Lieu.
Also at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thị Hanh announced the province's decision on recognizing Binh Lieu tourist area in Binh Lieu district as a provincial tourist one. The tourist zone includes the administrative boundaries of 6 communes of Vo Ngai, Luc Hon, Dong Tam, Hoanh Mo, Dong Van, Huc Dong communes and Binh Lieu town.
