On July 13, Deputy Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee, Nguyen Van Thang, chaired a meeting on the draft regulations on tourism management in Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay and the draft amendments and supplements to the plan on improving the quality and management of tourist boats in these bays.
Currently, there are 505 tourist boats, including 189 b&b boats, operating on Ha Long Bay. To better meet tourists’ demands, Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee has directed relevant departments and sectors to propose amendments and supplements to the plan on improving the quality and management of tourist boats in Ha Long Bay and Bai Tu Long Bay. Accordingly, the draft has focused on solutions to promote the quality of tourist boats, replacing wooden boats with steel ones.
Besides sightseeing and b&b boats, some new kinds of tourism products such as floating restaurants and explorer yachts will be put into operation. In Bai Tu Long Bay, the number of tourist boats has started to develop. To ensure the consistency in management and sustainable development orientation, Quang Ninh will apply the same regulation on management of tourist boats in Bai Tu Long Bay and Ha Long Bay.
