National Sports Games 2022 wraps up in Quang Ninh

The 9th National Sports Games 2022 wrapped up at the Quang Ninh Provincial Sports Complex in the evening of December 21.

Prominent among those at the closing ceremony were Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Head of the Games’ Steering Committee Nguyen Van Hung and Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee cum Chairman of the provincial People’s Council Nguyen Xuan Ky.

The ninth National Sports Games opened in Quang Ninh province on December 9. Apart from Quang Ninh Province, the ninth National Sports Games were organized in the capital city of Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Hoa Binh, Vinh Phuc, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh and Thanh Hoa. 

More than 900 sporting events including swimming, athletics, aerobics, rowing, canoeing, Kayak, futsal, football, shooting, wrestling, weightlifting, Judo, Taekwondo, Karate, Wushu, kickboxing, archery, tennis, indoor volleyball, beach volleyball, basketball, Chinese chess, lion dance, dance sports, billiards&snooker, golf, fencing, badminton, Kurash, Vovinam, Pencak silat, Muay, Jujitsu, bowling, triathlon, diving, table tennis, tug of war and so on were performed at the sports games. 

The Games  gathered more than 17,000 participants from 65 delegations, competing in 43 sports. The athletes competed for 933 sets of medals in 942 sporting events.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Head of the Games’ Steering Committee Nguyen Van Hung affirmed, that the event is of great significance as it conveyed the great care and expectations of the Party, the State and the people, for the future and the development of the country’s sports movement.

The Games also served as a venue for participating athletes to hone their skills and set new records and work together for national development.

The Minister also praised Quang Ninh province for its professional and thorough organization.
