Legislature to decide on economic restructuring plan for 2021-2025 period

The second plenary sitting of the 15th National Assembly opened in Ha Noi on October 20.

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the sitting will be held virtually from October 20 to November 1 and in traditional in-person format from November 8-13.

At this sitting, the Legislature will spend seven days on legislative work and 10 days on reviewing reports and deciding on other important issues.

The legislative body is expected to adopt two laws, namely Law to amend a number of articles of the Law on Statistics and Law to amend a number of articles of the Criminal Procedure Code; four resolutions, namely Resolution on the organization of online court hearings, Resolutions on a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Hai Phong city and provinces of Nghe An, Thua Thien-Hue, and Thanh Hoa.

The lawmakers will review the Law on Mobile Police, Law on Cinema (revised), Law on Insurance Business (revised), Law on Emulation and Commendation (revised), Law to amend a number of articles of the Law on Intellectual Property.

They will also discuss and decide on national land use planning for the period of 2021-2030 and vision to 2050, five-year land use plan for 2021-2025, and economic restructuring plan for the period of 2021-2025; review reports on the implementation of social insurance policies, regimes, management and use of social insurance fund in 2020; management and use of the health insurance fund in 2020 and the implementation of Resolution No. 68/2013/QH13 on accelerating the implementation of policies on health insurance.

The National Assembly will review the working reports of the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court and the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy; Government’s reports on anti-corruption work, crime and law enforcement, judgment enforcement in 2021.

The opening and closing ceremonies as well as discussion sessions on socio-economic and state budget will be broadcasted live on Viet Nam Television (VTV1), Voice of Viet Nam (VOV1), and Viet Nam National Assembly Television.

Before the opening ceremony, leaders of the Party, State, Viet Nam Fatherland Front and NA deputies paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum.
