Hai Ha district has a variety of specialities. From 2015 until now, the district has supported and encouraged locals to develop its specialities into OCOP products which are immensly favored by consumers.
The tea product which has been focused on building OCOP brand name by Hai Ha district because of its 50-year existence in this land, bringing high economic values for families for generations. To improve the quality of tea products, thanks to the district’s mobilization, locals have gradually replaced small-leaf tea varieties with higher quality ones such as LDP1 hybrid tea, O Long tea, Phuc Van Tien tea, Ngoc Thuy tea etc. Currently, Hai Ha district’ tea has been oriented to become one of the 6 national OCOP products.
Not only tea products, Hai Ha district has also encouraged and supported locals to develop a series of other OCOP products. In 2019 alone, the district supported 7 project groups for OCOP product development with 14 component projects with a total budget of 8.93 bil. VND, including over 6.71 bil.VND from the state budget.
Along with that, the district and communes have promoted the propaganda about supportive models and preferential policies to produce local OCOP products, aming at actively encourage locals as well as improving OCOP development.
In 2019, the district proposed the appraisal and approval for 11 new products of four economic organizations participating in the 2019 OCOP program such as honey-sweetened peach lemon, Hoang Viet honey, stewed pork dish, Duong Hoa tea, Xuan The confectionery, frozen squid and shrimp etc. Enterprises, cooperatives and production units have actively involved in OCOP production, label design, packaging, improving product quality, thereby confirming the product’s strength.
Up to now, the district has 37 products of 28 economic organizations participating in the OCOP program with 27 products with district-level two-star rating and over, 16 products with provincial-level three-star rating and over. In 2019, the district organized OCOP fairs associated with trade fairs in the district, bringing a total revenue of around 1.9 bil.VND
From early year until now, despite the impact caused by Covid 19, Hai Ha district’s OCOP products have seen good consumption. The district is now focusing on improving the quality of OCOP products to expand domestic and international consumption markets.
