Dong Trieu on the way to become a modern city
Dong Trieu city is shaping itself into a modern and vibrant city with comprehensive infrastructure, becoming a charming destination for investors far and wide.
Established in 2015, Dong Trieu town was realised as a third-tier urban area in 2020, and meets all the criteria for becoming a city, including the population, natural areas, administrative units, and socio-economic development.
The locality has been a pioneer in the building of model new style rural areas after it was recognised as the first new style rural area in Quang Ninh in 2015. Together with developing its Viet Dan, An Sinh and Binh Khe communes to become model new-style rural areas, Dong Trieu has worked hard to promote the building new-style rural area campaign in many other communes.
Dong Trieu has 90 kilometres of rural roads, and 18 kilometres of concretised irrigational system. All of the communes have satisfied standards on power grid, as well as the rate of households with regular and safe use of electricity. More than 98 percent of local families have safe houses.
For production development projects, it is developing the One Commune-One Product (OCOP) programme, while supporting projects to improve product quality, and branching out brands for local key products like custard-apple, litchi, and several flowers and ornamental trees in accordance with VietGAP standards.
In addition, Dong Trieu is building a plan to announce its master plan on investment promotion as well as events related to the establishment of Dong Trieu city in the coming time. Under the master plan, exemplary urban and rural areas, administrative centres, and trade and service centres will be branched out in the west of Dong Trieu, areas in the north zoned off for development of spiritual and eco-tourism sites, while the eastern part reserved for mining industry and clean industry.
Meanwhile, the core area, which covers Kim Son – Xuan Son new administrative centre and central wards, is expected to be a magnet for investors, and a hot spot of the realty market. Satellite regions such as Mao Khe, Yen Duc, Yen Tho, and Hong Thai also hold huge potential to lure investments in the future.
As a young urban area with 43% of the population living in urban areas, and favourable location for trade exchange, Dong Trieu boasts huge potential to further develop in the coming time. Once upgraded into a city, Dong Trieu will have more opportunities to attract more investors.
Quang Ninh remains the province with the most cities in Vietnam, including Hạ Long, Uong Bi, Cam Pha, Mong Cai, and now Dong Trieu. Additionally, Quang Ninh is in the process of preparing documents to propose the establishment of Quang Yen City by 2025.
