96% of Binh Lieu’s population is ethnic minorities, mainly Tay, Dao and San Chi ethnic groups. The unique cultural and production practices and breath-taking natural landscapes are foundations for the mountainous district to develop community-based tourism…
However, the community-based tourism in Binh Lieu is facing restrictions, fragmentation. There are only 3-5 homestays, few of tent, motorbike and ethnic costumes rental services available while amount of hotels, restaurants and agricultural stores are scanty, namely: Binh Son I, II, III, Viet Tien hostel, Pho Nui (Mountainous Street) restaurant.
To solve these problems, Quang Ninh province directed the district to develop a proposal on community-based tourism model that fits the local actual situation. In which, it is very important to analyse and clarify natural conditions, cultural identities and implementation methods.
Vi Ngoc Nhat, Deputy Head of the Culture – Information Office of Binh Lieu said that Binh Lieu People’s Committee is concentrating on building Tay people’s culture hamlet at Luc Hon Commune; meanwhile studying potentials of Dao and San Chi communities in Dong Van and Huc Dong communes for promoting community-based tourism.
In addition, the district encourages the local communities to develop tourism products, accompany and supports businesses to boost tourism development. Sen A Dong Tourism JSC is studying potential hamlets in order to carry out a project on an area of 1142 hectares with total investment of 202 bill USD. With the first investment project to meet sustainable criteria, Sen A Dong is leading the way in Binh Lieu’s tourism commensurate with its potentials.
