Binh Lieu promotes tourism and service development

By combining the working year theme with socio-economic development targets, Binh Lieu District determined to restructure its economy, gradually taking service sector as a “pivot driver” for its development.

In the first 9 months of 2019, the district’s economic structure has seen positive changes with the good growth of services sector of which the production value reached 496.7 bil.VND, a 16.41% year on year increase. Other services fields such as vocational education and training, science and technology, information services, post and telecommunications, medical services, finance, transportation, public services etc have witnessed remarkable growth.

In 2019, Binh Lieu District completed and effectively put into operation investment projects on upgrading the bridge via the two border gates of Hoanh Mo (Vietnam) and Dong Zhong (China) and mobilized investment capital to build infrastructures of Hoanh Mo – Dong Van Border Gate Economic Zone and Binh Lieu District with a total investment of nearly 79 bil.VND.

Special attention has been given to improving the quality of infrastructures serving the tourism and service development, aiming at turning tourism service into one of the economic spearhead of the district. Currently, there are 17 accommodation facilities with 197 rooms in Binh Lieu District. The district has strengthened the management of the quality of tourism services, such as homestay, tents, motorbikes and traditional costumes for rent, catering etc. As the result, in the first 9 months, Binh Lieu District received nearly 64,500 tourist arrivals, up 32.5% over the same period, revenue from tourism service activities gained over 18.4 bil.VND

Defining investment attraction and support is one of the important keys to successfully implement the working year theme, the district has undertaken robust measures to improve business and investment environment and Department and District Competitiveness Index (DDCI). From the beginning of the year up to now, the district in coordination with Quang Ninh Investment Promotion Agency (IPA) have supported the implementation of 7 large-scale projects in the locality, including Logistics Center at the Hoanh Mo – Dong Van Border Gate Economic Zone, tourism sites of Cao Ba Lanh, Mooc River, Cao Ly eco tourism site etc. Along with that, the district in conjunction with relevant departments, branches and sectors have actively called on investors and supported enterprises to seek for and research investment opportunities in the locality.
