Binh Lieu ethnic festival to open on April 23

Binh Lieu ethnic festival honouring the ethnic traditional cultures of the border district of Binh Lieu will get underway from April 23 to May 12. The event also aims to affirm Binh Lieu as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination in the northeast of Quang Ninh province.

According to organizers, the festival is also the message of a beautiful district with historical traditions and cultural identities as well as rustic and honesty locals that ethnic minority people in Binh Lieu district want to promote to visitors.

Soong Co singing festival, the Ngay Kieng gio festival and the Then heritage festival will be also held this time.

This year’s festival features various attractive cultural and sport activities from October to November such as new rice season festival of Tay ethnic people, the display of One Commune One Product (OCOP) and agricultural products, the experience of climbing and camping on Cao Xiem Mountain, the Women's Football Tournament of ethnic groups in Binh Lieu District, folk games, the showcase of ethnic minority groups’ costumes, taking check-in photos on terraced fields, a paragliding tournament, and a mountain climbing tournament.

Located in the eastern part of Quang Ninh province and bordered with China, Binh Lieu is home to ethnic groups such as Tay, San Chi and Dao and endowed with many stunning landscapes as well as attractive cultural features. 

The mountainous district is likened to ‘Sapa’ in northern Lao Cai province with similar climate, landscapes and culture of ethnic minority groups. Binh Lieu has no high-end tourism services but will comfort travelers by its own wild beauty and peaceful scenery. 

Tourists can visit tourist sites such as Luc Na communal house, Khe Van waterfall, Khe Thien waterfall, Mooc A waterfall, border roads, etc. 

They also trek up mountains to admire various wild flowers and fruits, enjoy the beauty of immense terraced rice fields and learn more about the daily life of ethnic people living in stilt houses scattered around mounts and hills. 

Binh Lieu has also a border gate market where tourists can shop for some souvenirs, garments and food.
