Bamboo Airways launches Ho Chi Minh – Van Don air route.

The first flight of The FLC’s Bamboo Airways carrying 100 passengers from Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh city landed the Van Don International Airport at 10 am on Feb. 2. This is the third carrier to launch its air route to Quang Ninh via Van Don International Air which went into operation in late December of 2018, following Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet.

Bamboo Airways is owned by property developer FLC Group. It, was established in 2017 with charter capital of VND 700 billion (USD 30.2 million). In 2019, Bamboo Airways plans to open 37 routes connecting all the main cities and well-known tourism destinations of both Vietnam and around the world.

Particularly, it will open 8 routes with the frequency of 26 flights per day linking Hanoi with Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Dong Hoi; Ho Chi Minh city with Hanoi, Thanh Hoa, Quy Nhon, Buon Me Thuot and Van Don.

Of which, the Ho Chi Minh – Van Don will be operated with the frequency of 4 flights per week on Thursday, Tuesday, Saturday and Sunday. The duration of each flight will be around 2 hours.

Specifically, a flight departs at 8am at Tan Son Nhat airport in Ho Chi Minh city and lands on Van Don international airport in Quang Ninh province at 10am by A321 NEO. The return ones takes off at 10.45 at Van Don international airport and touched down Tan Son Nhat airport at 12.50 am. Tickets cost from VND 149,000 (excluding  tax and fee).

Bamboo Airways is the third carriers to launch flights via the airport. According to the Airport Management Board, there have been nearly 9,000 passenger arrivals to from Ho Chi Minh city to Quang Ninh, and vice versa, via the Van Don International Airport. As scheduled, Donghai Airlines, the first international carrier,  will launch its route from China’s Shenzhen with the frequency of 3 flights per week.

Passengers on flights to Van Don international airport are offered free entrance to Yen Tu relic site (in Uong Bi city), Ha Long Bay Natural Heritage site and Bai Tu Long Bay (excluding overnight visit on the bay) within 30 days. Incentives will be offered to the passengers for a duration of 3 years from Jan. 1, 2019 to Dec 31, 2021.
