It is said that coming to Co To, you have only visited Large Co To island without visiting Small Co To island (Co To Con), you haven’t been to Co To island. Indeed, the small Co To island has a magical attraction.
From Co To town, visitors can travel by car to Bac Van port and then by boat to small Co To island. Located in the large Co To island, Small Co To island is a small one covering an area of about 200 ha, located in the northeast of Dong Tien commune, Co To island district. From Co To island, visitors can easily admire the beautiful island which prominently appears on the deep blue background of sky and sea.
Coming to Small Co To island, visitors can also immerse themselves in gorgeously beautiful coral reefs. With the aim of protecting, reviving and developing aquatic resources, in late 2019, Quang Ninh Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has implemented the project of building artificial reef on an area of 8,700 m2 in Co To sea. To date, 500 growing medium have been released into 2 locations on Small Co To island and at Hon Khoi islet, Dong Tien Commune. As planned, once the project in the period of 2018 -2019 finishes in Dec., 2020, nearly 9,000 artificial coral reefs will be established, creating a foundation for corals to develop and contributing to reviving biodiversity at northeastern island district of the country, thereby increasing locals’ incomes and easing the burden on natural eco-system which have been degraded.
Anyone who first sets foot on the island would be overwhelmed by the pristine beauty of Small Co To island. Perhaps, romantic people feel like they get lost in a fairyland on earth because of clean and airy atmosphere at Small Co To island where no people lives there. Vietnamese writing master Nguyen Tuan had to say that Co To’s sea water is “very deep blue”, proving that he found it difficult to describe the blue of the sea. Visitors can own perfect photos or enjoy romantic candlelight dinners by the sea on Small Co To island.
Besides, visitors can visit Thanh Lan island commune, famous sandy beaches with clear blue water such as Ba Chau, Hai Quan etc.
