Sa Vi border information popularisation complex in Mong Cai city won the ASEAN sustainable rural or urban tourism product’s Award (ASTA) at the 2020 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) which took place in Brunei on Jan 16. The ASEAN recognition aimed at honoring and popularising localities that boosted high-quality tourism products in the region.
Started construction in 2009 and completion in Oct., 2013, the 16,000 sqm Sa Vi border information popularisation complex in Mong Cai is the first point of the S- shape map of Vietnam. The work is highly appreciated to bear the symbol of the country where the land border has the largest scale offers most magnificient view.
The work including square, main project complex and service area is designed with the symbol of 8 giant coniferous leaves made of 27 m high permanent concrete, pointing straight toward the sky, deeply depicting the traditional culture of locals.
The impressive work is harmoniously combined with nature by paths with vegetation and trees. Thanks to a modern lighting system which is creatively arranged, the Sa Vi border information popularisation complex becomes more beautiful and majestic at night. Visiting this place, tourists will experience modern recreation services such as watching 5D movie, renting tandem bikes, releasing pigeons; participating in meaningful folk games including stick pushing, ball throwing through the ring, mandarin square capturing, top spinning etc. As a result, the Sa Vi border information popularisation complex has become a magnet for tourists from all around the country.
Also in 2019, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to recognize Tra Co National Tourist Area in Mong Cai city, Quang Ninh province, becoming an exciting event to the authorities and locals of Mong Cai city in particular and Quang Ninh in general. Along with winning the ASEAN sustainable rural or urban tourism Award, the value of the Sa Vi border information popularisation complex has been affirmed, creating a highlight and attraction for the Tra Co National Tourist Area. This is a good opportunity for Mong Cai city to advertise, exploit and promote the effectiveness of the complex in developing tourism services.
