2nd special flight carrying Vietnamese fleeing Ukraine arrives in Hanoi
A Bamboo Airways flight carrying nearly 300 Vietnamese nationals who had fled Ukraine for Poland landed in Hanoi early on Thursday.
They included seniors, children, pregnant women, people with illnesses, and students, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.
It was the second rescue flight operated by the government to evacuate Vietnamese citizens from the danger zone in Ukraine.
The first with 287 people had arrived in Hanoi on March 8.
Nguyen Hung, Vietnam's ambassador to Poland, said embassy officials made sure there were no empty seats on the flight.
Vietnam's missions in Ukraine's neighboring countries continue to register citizens wishing to return home, including 600 in Romania and 400 in Poland.
As of March 9 nearly 4,000 Vietnamese had evacuated from Ukraine, with more than 2,400 people going to Poland, 830 to Romania, 560 to Hungary, and 100 to Slovakia.
