Yen Tu Spring Festival 2014 kicks off

On Feb. 9, 2014, the Opening Ceremony of Yen Tu Spring Festival 2014 was held at Yen Tu relic, Uong Bi city.

The ceremony was attended by Head of Ethnic Group’s Committee Giang Seo Phu; Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Viet Nam Fatherland Front Vu Trong Kim; representatives of the Central Buddhist Association of Vietnam; leaders of Quang Ninh province; representatives of the central and provincial departments and sectors, as well as a large number of Buddhist dignitaries, monks, nuns, followers and visitors.

The opening ceremony was briefly organized with a wide range of significant activities. It started with a ceremonial procession, followed by  art performance with the theme “ Yen Tu in Spring”, a series of dragon and lion dances performed by hundreds of artists of the Quang Ninh Cheo Troupe. At the ceremony, delegates and tourists were introduced about unique values of Yen Tu relic, which has attracted many dignitaries, monks, nuns and followers.

Yen Tu Spring Festival is the longest festival in Quang Ninh that drews a large amount of visitors to the relic. As reported, at the beginning of the year 2014, Yen Tu has attracted nearly 30, 000 tourist arrivals to offer incense and pray to the Buddha.
