Workshop to promote Vietnam tourism in Malaysia

A workshop entitled “Vietnam- Timeless Charm”, held on Mar. 17 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia aims to introduce tourism development as well as to promote attractive destination of Vietnam.

The workshop, co-organized by Travel Seasons Company, Vietnam Airlines Office in Malaysia, and the Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) was attended by a wide range of travel agents, Vietnamese in overseas, local people.

The event featured Vietnam’s well-known destinations, including Hanoi ancient quarter, Ha Long Bay, Bich Dong cave in Ninh Binh, Hue, Hoi An, Nha Trang and Da Lat.

Apart from presenting interesting sites, cultural characteristics and unique cuisine, the workshop has also introduced specific tours to draw Malaysian tourists to Vietnam.

Speaking at the workshop, Vietnamese Ambassador to Malaysia Nguyen Hong Thao said the event offered a good opportunity for people from both countries to enhance friendship, exchange culture, and learn about both countries’ history and customs.

Former MATTA President Ngiam Foon suggested that Malaysian tourist agencies should boost their research into the high potential Vietnamese market.

According to statistics, in 2011 Vietnam received over 233,100 tourists from Malaysia, up 3.88 percent over 2010.
