Workshop on Quang Ninh in films and tourism promotion through movies

Within the framework of the 18th Vietnam Film Festival, the workshop titled “Quang Ninh in films and tourism promotion through movies” was held on Oct. 15 in Ha Long city. It was attended by Prof. Ngo Phuong Lan, Head of the Cinematography Department (under the Ministry Culture, Sports and Tourism) and her deputy - Prof. Hoang Thi Diep. At the workshop, around 20 speeches have been presented by delegates who are film producers, actors, film managers, travel agencies, tourism managers, and reporters.

Most of the speeches mentioned films on Quang Ninh’s landscape and people; the interactive relationship between cinematography and tourism development of Vietnam in general and Quang Ninh in particular. The workshop was remarked by presentation of the reporter Frederic Ferrer (Channel France 2 of France) and the scholar Jose Miguel De La Rosa (from Philipines).

To conclude the workshop, Prof. Ngo Phuong Lan stated that this is the first time they have ever held a workshop with such theme. She stressed that, however, tourism potential has been untapped in an effective way. Therefore, all the state management boards of cinematography and tourism; film producers and tourism promotion agencies need to jointly take actions in order to achieve that goal. She hoped more and more tourism promotion programs would be held through films in many countries.
