Vietnamese ring in Year of the Tiger

Despite the suspension of fireworks and public performances, residents in Hanoi braved the cold weather and took to the streets in the city centre to welcome the Year of the Tiger.

As the clock ticked towards midnight, more and more people gathered around Hoan Kiem Lake and took photos with installations of tigers and spring flowers.
But the crowds were much smaller than previous years as people chose to ring in the new year at home due to unfavourable weather and concerns over coronavirus.
