Viet Nam gives priority to developing neighbourly relations, friendship and co-operation with Cambodia.
Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong said this while receiving President of the Cambodian National Assembly, Heng Samrin, in Ha Noi yesterday.
He hailed the co-operation between the two parliaments and said he hoped the two nations would continue sharing information and law-making experiences.
The Party leader congratulated Cambodia on the successful organisation of the recent parliamentary election, won by the ruling Cambodian People's Party (CPP).
He also welcomed the consensus reached by the CPP and the opposition Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) that put an end to a year-long political deadlock.
Heng Samrin said Cambodia would do its utmost to nurture the bilateral relationship.
The top legislator thanked Viet Nam for helping save Cambodians from genocidal catastrophe and helping the country in its reconstruction and development.
