Van Don international airport receives the first flight from South Korea

At 1.45 a.m on June 6, the first flight connecting South Korea with Quang Ninh landed at Van Don international airport, carrying 181 passengers. This is the second international air route after more than 5 months’ operation of Van Don international airport.

The first flight with the number sign VN9411 from South Korea to Van Don departed from Incheon airport, Seoul, at 9.30 p.m on June 5 and landed at Van Don international airport at 1.45 a.m on June 6.

At the welcome ceremony, Van Don international airport held a water salute, gave flowers to the first passengers and announced preferential services for them such as free bus, free tickets visiting Ha Long Bay and Yen Tu Mountain.

The South Korea – Van Don air route has been operated by Vietnam Airlines in the form of charter flights between travel agencies and airlines. Previously, on May 27, Van Don international airport welcomed the first flight from Shenzhen, China.

As planned, in this June, Van Don international airport will have additional air routes of Van Don international airport – Taiwan (China) ; Van Don - Hainan, Nanning, Guangzhou (China). New routes from Japan and Bangkok (Thailand) will be opened by late 2019.

The domestic market will also continue to be expanded with flights connecting Van Don - Da Nang, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang to be put into operation in the third quarter of 2019. According to statistics from Van Don international airport’s management company, the port has welcomed nearly 100,000 passengers with a total of nearly 700 flights.
