At 6.50 pm on May 8, the flight VN1 of national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines bringing 343 Vietnamese citizens from the USA back home landed on Van Don International Airport.
This Boeing 787 flight departed San Francisco Airport at 2 am and landed onVan Don International Airport after 17 hours.
Passengers on board are Vietnamese students under 18 years old and studying in overseas, the elderly, disadvantaged people, people on business or vacation trips with expired visas. They were received in line with Covid-19 prevention and control rules.
This is the first direct flight from the USA to Vietnam in general and Van Don in particular.
Also on May 8, Van Don International Airport received flight VN6419 transporting 32 passengers from South Korea back home. To date, the airport has received 43 flights bringing more than 7,000 Vietnamese citizens from 10 disease-hit countries over the world.
