Van Don International Airport receives 317 Vietnamese citizens from Canada

National carrier Vietnam Airline’s Airbus 350 plane bringing 317 Vietnamese citizens from Canada landed at Van Don International Airport on 7.30 pm on August 24.

Departing Canada and transiting in Japan, the plane carried 317 passengers, including overseas students or employees whose visas had expired in Canada to return to Vietnam.

Before boarding, passengers had their temperatures checked, declared their health status and wear face masks throughout the journey. This is the 3rd flight carrying Vietnamese citizens back home from Canada, one of the largest Covid-19 hotspots in the world.

All immigration, customs and containment procedures were conducted in line with regulations on Covid-19 prevention and control to avoid cross-infection. After completion of procedures, passengers were taken to quarantine centers and their health is monitored for 14 days.

Since the disease outbreak, Van Don International Airport has received 50 flights repatriating nearly 10,000 Vietnamese people from disease-hit areas. Besides, it has received 50 flights bringing senior experts and engineers from large firms to Vietnam for working. It plans to receive one more flight carrying Vietnamese citizens back from the USA on August 30.
