Van Don International Airport has been listed among the top five airports with the highest points for quality services in the first quarter of the year, according to a survey by the Airport Performance Measurement Program (APMP).
In the first six months, the airport welcomed 877 domestic flights and 15 international ones with more than 11,000 passengers and approximately 300,000 kilograms of goods. Particularly, it is an honour to greet 20 delegations of national leaders and three Laos delegations visiting the airport.
All of the activities events were absolutely protected thanks to the close cooperation of Van Don Police and relevant agencies, said the Deputy Head of Van Don Police, Doan Van Long.
The district police regularly conducts patrols outside the airport to maintain the outer security of the area and adopts professional measures to ensure internal politics and safety for all units in the port.
The Police also promotes the dissemination of legal knowledge about aviation security and safety in all classes of people, especially those living near Van Don International Airport area.
Along with the drastic implementation of the Van Don District Police, functional units such as the screening security force, the control security force always perform their duties well, inspect and supervise aviation security in restricted areas and maintain the order in public areas. Thereby, some cases of disruptive passengers have been timely resolved; three cases of carrying unsafe items were discovered and handed over to the District Police.
The frequency of flights and the number of passengers are expected to soar because the airport is going to launch more domestic routes to Da Nang, Phu Quoc and some international ones to Thailand, Japan and Singapore. As planned, the Provincial Police and the Provincial People's Committee will invest in the project to construct the headquarters of Van Don Aviation Airport Police. The Police of Van Don Airport will include representatives of the Ministry of Public Security, Provincial Police and Van Don District Police to ensure mobility, promptly prevent and resolve aviation emergency situations.
