“Uong Bi city must set its goal to become a center for spiritual tourism and hi quality human resource training of Quang Ninh province”, affirmed Secretary of Quang Ninh Provincial Party’s Committee Nguyen Van Doc at the conclusion of the working session on Jan. 15 in Ha Long city with Uong Bi’s leaders regarding the missions and key tasks in the year of 2018.
According to Uong Bi’s report, despite difficulties but with its tradition of solidarity, renovation and high determination, the city has gained good results in all fields, achieving 100 percent of targets and exceeding the 2017’s plans. At the meeting, Uong Bi’s efforts in the implementation of the socio-economic tasks for 2017 were highly appreciated by the provincial departments and sectors.
The leader of Quang Ninh’s Party stressed that Uong Bi city is a Buddism center of not only Quang Ninh province but also of Vietnam. Therefore, he then asked Uong Bi’s leaders to pay much attention to religious management and social security. Moreover, the city needs to have more feasible and robust measures to developing services and tourism, particularly spiritual tourism; effectively managing Yen Tu relic entrance fees. It is also necessary to enhance solutions to raising the quality of education and training, striving to become a hi-qualiy training center of the province, strictly controlling coal exploitation activities in compliance with environmental protection.
Ragarding the socio-economic tasks for 2018, Secretary Nguyen Van Doc requested Uong Bi to concentrate on the key tasks, namely: enhance its budget collection focusing on fees and taxes, improve the quality of OCOP products associated with new rural construction program, and further the poverty-alleviation movement.
The city was urged to focus on the development of tourism and services, especially spiritual tourism; intensify the linkage with other surrounding localities; develop comprehensive traffic infrastructure to Yen Tu historic relic, in connection to the relics in Dong Trieu and Quang Yen towns.
Related to education sector, the Party leader asked Uong Bi to develop Ha Long University in order to gradually become a center for training hi-quality human resource for the province.
Uong Bi must put high priority on environmental protection for the development of urban and spiritual tourism. It was requested to effectively control the exploitation of coal, the operation of thermal power plant, cement production. In addition, the security and safety for the locals and tourists must be ensured.
