Owning great potential for tourism development, in its development strategy, Uong Bi determines tourism as one of key drivers to foster socio-economic development of the city.
To achieve this goal, in recent years, Uong Bi city has undertaken a number of specific and effective measures for tourism development.
Recognizing the environment is one of the most important factors to develop tourism, Uong Bi has actively dealt with environmental pollution caused by industrial waste from the production of electricity, coal and ciment, etc.
In parallel with protecting the environment, Uong Bi has also paid much attention to infrastructure improvement, planting more green trees and flowers along the roads.
The most attractive tourism attractions in Uong Bi city including Yen Trung lake, Lung Xanh weaterfall, have been invested with convenient infrastructure. Particularly, the People’s Committee of Uong Bi city has spent much on investing many other tourism works, including the Square 25/2 which will be built in accordance with a tourism and trade city where many of the cultural and art activities will be held. It is expected to receive 100,000 tourist arrivals per year.
One of the highlight is the Student park with 5 uninterupted areas, including services area, a public entertainment area, a flower park, an area imitating the world wonders and a miniature Disneyland park.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha, Chairman of the Uong Bi City People’s Committee said that, improvement for tourism attractions shows its willingness to invite more invetsments to foster tourism development. The leaders of the city also informed that the first tourism scenery market of Quang Ninh will officially open on September 1 in Uong Bi.
Besides leisure tourism, Uong Bi also has paid much concerns with developing spritual, cultural and ecotourism. This strategy has timely met the increasing demand of not only local people but also visitors. Specific and effective measures that Uong Bi city is applying for developing various types of tourism are highly evaluated by Vietnamese tourism experts.
Uong Bi tourism is evaluated to bring high yeild economic incomes for the city. It is reported that despite the decreasing tourist arrivals to Yen Tu historic relic, the sector sees a rise in tourism revenue. With all the great efforts in promoting tourism development, it is believed that the sector will continue to grow to be the key industry driving Uong Bi’s development.
