Untouched Cai Lim Valley in Bai Tu Long National Park

Situated on Tra Ngo Lon island at Bai Tu Long National Park in Van Don District, Cai Lim Valley owns an untouched beauty as it has not been affected by  humans.

Bai Tu Long National Park covers an area of 15,783 ha including sea and floating islands. The park is a home to immense populations of ecosystems with unique values of fauna and flora which are mainly distributed on the islands of Ba Mun, Tra Ngo Lon, Tra Ngo Nho, Sau Dong, Sau Nam etc. In May, 2017,  Bai Tu Long National Park were officially recognized as the ASEAN Heritage Park

With its special geological formation, Cai Lim Valley on Tra Ngo Lon Island is surrounded byand forming valleys where are the rich natural habitat for different types of animals and plants. The main area of Cai Lim valley has a mangrove forest with an area of 10 ha. All mangrove trees are hundreds of years old with the trunk diameter of about 30 cm.

Doi Cave, located in Cai Lim valley is home to hundreds of bats, otters and monkeys. About 1 km from the Doi Cave to the North, we find Cai De tunnel grotto belonging to Cai Lim Valley. The 500m long cave passes through the overlapping mountains and its largest area of around 60 m. The cave is accessible on low tidal days by small boats. On high tidal days, the water level reaches the cave’s ceiling. Behind the cave, there is a mangrove forest valley covering 10 ha which is home to austriella corrugatas.

Since the establishment of Bai Tu Long National Park in 1982, Cai Lim Valley, Cai De tunnel cave, Doi Cave and other areas of the park have been carefully supervised by forest rangers, thus limiting human affect.

On June 24, 2019, the Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Committee approved the project “Eco-tourism development in Bai Tu Long National Park to 2020, with orientation to 2030”. Therefore, in the near future, tourist sites at Cai Lim Valley and other sites of Bai Tu Long National Park will be planned for tourism development. Accordingly, eco-tourism activities allowed to be implemented in Bai Tu Long National Park include adventure tourism, picnics, camping, experiential eco-tourism in forests and exploring caves, etc. Cai Lim Valley will soon be a magnet for tourists who like discovering the pristine scenery of the forest.
