The Quang Ninh domestic waterway management agency, under the Department of Transport, takes charge of managing 68 ports and wharves where over 10,000 vehicles on operation. The unit has recently enhanced the application of information technology to management and operation of the ports so as to guarantee traffic safety at these places.
According to the Deputy Head of the Cai Lan waterway agency, about 40 vehicles carrying visitors to Ha Long Bay are permited to leave the port everyday. Only those which satisfy all of safety criteria can receive the permission.
Ship owners and tourists are frequently reminded to strictly follow rules and procedures at the port as well.
Thanks to recent technological innovations, all ports have currently been connected with the archive center via a management software system, which enables ship owners to promptly carry out entry and exist procedures just by filling forms on the website, sending emails or messages or making phone calls instead of meeting the agency’s officials in person as before.
Director of the Quang Ninh domestic waterway agency, Vu Manh Long said that the application of technology to license granting helps save time and cost, making tourists and businesses more comfortable and convenient, actively contributing to forming a good impression about civilized and friendly Quang Ninh.
In addition, the agency has tightened the control of vehicles’ itinerary and speed through the application called GPS Speedometer installed on every ship so that emergencies can be recognized and solved effectively.
