The top ten Quang Ninh’s events in 2013 has been announced according to the vote organized by Quang Ninh Department of Information and Communications in collaboration with the Provincial Training and Propaganda Committee; QNPPC’s office; the Provincial Association of Journalists; Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism; Quang Ninh Newspaper; Quang Ninh Television and Ha Long Newspaper.
1.Quang Ninh hit the new record by completing the project connecting Co To island to the national power grid, lighting up the island district. The event opened up a new development period of Co To island.
2.Quang Ninh successfully held a ceremony to celebratethe 50th founding anniversary (30/10/1963 – 30/10/2013) and receiving the 1st class independence medal. Quang Ninh is shifting from “brown” growth into “green” growth in its developing process. Also in 2013, Ha Long city was recognised as the 1st type urban city, and Uong Bi as the 2nd type urban city.
3.Quang Ninh was the first province of Vietnam to organize a pilot-examination to choose the provincial departments’ leaders. Quang Ninh is also now concentrating on training hi-quality human resource.
4. 2013 is the year implementing administrative reform and e-Government in Quang Ninh. Accordingly, 5 public administration centres were opened in Ha Long, Uong Bi, Mong Cai, Cam Pha cities and Van Don district.
5. The most important works were completed on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Quang Ninh, such as Quang Ninh Museum- Library; Ha Long Park...
6. Quang Ninh Provincial People’s Council approved the master plan for Quang Ninh socio-economic development to 2020, in a vision of 2030.
7. In 2013, Tran Dynasty historical relic in Dong Trieu district was recognised as the special national relic. A ceremony to commemorate the 705th anniversary of King-Monk Tran Nhan Tong’s death was held and ignaugurated Tran Nhan Tong status at Yen Tu relic.
8. 7 groups of special mechanisms and policies under the Announcement No 108 TB/TW dated 1/10/2012 by the Polituro. Notablythe project on “ Rapid and sustainable socio-economic development, ensuring securtity and defence and building two special economic and administrative units in Van Don, Mong Cai” was completed.
9. In 2013, Quang Ninh’s budget revenue exceeded VND 30,000 billion.
10. Quang Ninh achieved 12 out of 19 criteria in building new rural area. Accordingly, 34 communes within the province have completed the new rural area program.
