To strictly punish the boats that break the rule of transporting visitors on Ha Long Bay

In the morning of Sep 7, the Department of Transport has organized an inter-organizational meeting to discuss measures to deal with the boats that illegally transport visitors and disorder the traffic safety  on Ha Long Bay.

According to the statistics of the Department of Transport, there are currently  13 boats that pick up and drop visitors at illegal ports and wharves on Ha Long Bay. These boats carry over allowed capacity and do not meet requirements of transporting visitors.

In addition, when functional agencies undertake their checking, the boat owners can not adequately show  required licenses for boat operation and professional certificates of the staff working on the boat. The illegal operation of these boats adversely impacts on reputation of tourist boat teams and also endanger the visitors.
To solve this problem, the Deparment of Transport has directed its Inspection Unit  to collaborate with other relevant units to enhance inspection and punishment activities.

At the meeting, participants  unanimously agreed with the opinion that: the above-mentioned illegal cases need to be thoroughly treated. To achieve this goal, there is a need of drastic and synchronized involvement of the local functional organizations and authorities.
At the same time, it is necessary to  enhance propaganda and explanation to the people and tourists to advise them to not go with these illegal tourist boats.  Functional authorities will strictly punish violation cases and report to  the PPC by September 15th.
