Filial piety festival (Vu Lan festival) is a traditional Buddhist festival held in Vietnam on the 15th night of the seventh month of the lunar calendar. Vietnamese people call the 7th month full moon festival as “Vu Lan báo hiếu” (Filial piety festival). It is the second largest annual traditional festival of Vietnam after the lunar New Year (Tết) festival, and is celebrated by Vietnamese people participating in various religious rituals and humanitarian activities. The festival is an occasion for the Vietnamese people to pay homage to their deceased ancestors.

Besides Long Tien pagoda, the Filial piety Festival 2019 was also celebrated in other pagodas within Quang Ninh province.
