Supervizing implementation of CITES policies and laws in Quang Ninh

On July 3, in Ha Long City, the supervising delegation of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment led by its Deputy Head Nguyen Minh Ha, had a meeting with the Provincial People's Committee of Quang Ninh to monitor the implementation of policies and laws of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in Vietnam.

Speaking at the meeting, Quang Ninh's Standing Vice Chairman Dang Huy Hau affirmed that Quang Ninh has actively and effectively deployed regulations on protection of rare and precious wild fauna and flora, in particular, it has actively implemented the protection of aquatic resources.

He also raised the proposals to the Government to direct the ministries and relevant departments to continue studying and completing the system of legal documents on management and treatment of administrative violations related to CITES; to established a specialized agency to perform this task as soon as possible, continue to enhance scientific research so as to reproduce rare and precious wild animals and plants that are in danger of extinction ...

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Head of the National Assembly's Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Nguyen Minh Ha, highly appreciated the results of the CITES implementation in Quang Ninh, and strongly affirmed that Quang Ninh's experiences will help the Central organisations continue to improve the legal system on issues related to the CITES; at the same time, receiving Quang Ninh's petitions to report to the Government for consideration and settlement.
