Some 8,000 international tourists visit Vietnam
After 2 months of piloting receiving international arrivals (from mid-November 2021), Vietnam has welcomed nearly 8,000 international tourists, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
With safety given the top priority, tourists are protected from the COVID-19 epidemic, and have many interesting experiences. This has initially created a firm confidence among tourists when coming to Vietnam, affirming that the country is a safe destination.
At an online conference to report the results of the Vietnam Provincial Tourism Destination Competitiveness Index for 15 provinces and cities held on January 18, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung said that the tourism industry has well implemented the pilot program to welcome international tourists with a very high safety factor.
Localities are actively opening domestic tourism as well as preparing to welcome international tourists when conditions permit. This result is partly due to the fact that Vietnam is among countries with the highest COVID-19 vaccine coverage, he stressed.
The tourism industry will re-evaluate the effectiveness of the trial period to soon propose the Government to open the door to international tourists on a broader scale on the basis of ensuring safety, possibly on April 30.
In the immediate future, localities and businesses need to prepare well to be ready to open their doors, increase promotion activities, remove obstacles in travel and tourism, and have consistent regulations at the central and local levels.
