On March 26, in Ha Long city, under the authorization of the Goverments of Vietnam and China, a singing ceremony has been held by the ministries of Transport of the two countries to sign the agreement and protocol on the construction of Bac Luan bridge II linking Mong Cai city (Vietnam) and Guangxi province (China).
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport Dinh La Thang and other provincial leaders of Quang Ninh.
Previously, relevant units of the two countries have conducted a number of talks to reach agreement on contents of the agreement. Accordingly, the construction of Bac Luan bridge II plays a vital role in economic and trading development between Vietnam and China in general as well as Quang Ninh and Guangxi in particular. It also helps to create economic connection of southeastern region of China to the ASEAN countries and Greater Mekong Subregion, meeting the demand of transporting passengers and commodities of local people in the two countries.
At the ceremony, the two sides have signed an Agreement between Vietnamese and Chinese governments on the construction of Bac Luan bridge II and the protocol on simplizing immigration procedures for the workers, vehicles, construction materials and equipments at Mong Cai border city (Vietnam) and Guangxi (China) during the construction of the bridge.
After the signing ceremony, the two sides have collaborated with the local government of Quang Ninh and Guangxi to soon implement the construction in 2012.
