On Mar. 14, Mr. Trinh Dang Thanh, Deputy Director of Quang Ninh Department of Tourism has received Mr. Jordan Vogt-Roberts - "Kong: Skull Island" director who has recently been chosen as Vietnam's tourism ambassador by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Quang Ninh tourism's leader congratulated Jordan Vogt-Roberts on the success of the film and his new role of Vietnam's tourism ambassador for the 2017-2020 tenure.
In his acceptance speech, Roberts said that it is great honour for him to be chosen as a tourism ambassador of Vietnam and he promised to try his best to promote Vietnam tourism in general and Quang Ninh tourism in particular. On this occasion, he also sincerly thanked Quang Ninh for its kindly support during his filming in Ha Long.
Kong: Skull Island tells the story of a group of explorers who go in search of the birthplace of the lord of giant apes. It was shot in Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh, Van Long Natural Reserve and Trang An Complex in Ninh Binh, and the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park in Quang Binh.
The blockbuster set a new record in box office revenues in Vietnam after snagging VND 18.2 billion (USD 798,200) from the opening day on March 10 and early screenings on March 9 night, becoming the film with the biggest opening of all time in Vietnam.
