“Connecting heritages for Asean ASEAN tourism development in digital age” is the main theme of the ASEAN Tourism Conference taking place on Jan. 16 in Ha Long city. IT is one of the key events in the framework of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) 2019.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Mnister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Quang Tung stressed that ASEAN is home to many of the world’s natural and cultural heritage sites, which have made important contributions to tourism growth in each nation. They have also brought pratical benefits in the socio, economic and cultural development for organizations, enterprises and individuals.
In the context of scienctific and technological development, the preservation and promotion of heritage values in the bloc will create a premise for sustainable tourism development, contributing to the common prosperity of member states, he added.
The Vice Minister said that ASEAN member nations are expected to join hands to create a digital database to promote the world’s heritage system in ASEAN, as well as develop tourism by utilising the Internet of Things.
With the them of “Connecting heritages for Asean tourism development in digital age”, the Asean Tourism Conference opened up a platform for participants to share experience and initiatives in applying new technologies towards connecting and developing ASEAN heritage tourism. Thereby, it may help promoting creativeness, innovation and raise the values of the regional tourism development. It also contributes to enhancing the cooperation and connection in preserving and promoting the natural and cultural heritages in Asean region.
Under the framework of ATF 2019, several other activities also took place, such as the ATF Travel Exchane (TRAVEX) – the world’s largest ASEAN destination, product and service showcase; the meetings of ASEAN Tourism Ministers and ASEAN National Tourism Organisations,; the copening ceremony of the ATF 2019, along with other exchange programes.
