On Mar. 10, in Mong Cai city, in response to the Youth Month and the “border March”, the Quang Ninh Youth Union in cooperation with the provincial Border Military Command held a ceremony to launch a campaign titled “clean up the sea”.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, Hoang Van Hai, asked Youth Union officials at all levels to adopt a variety of effective measures to raise public awareness of the important role of environmental protection, especially sea and island environment, in key areas such as social, economic and cultural development, international affairs and national defense.
He also highlighted that it is necessary to encourage ethnic minority people living in border areas to actively partake in an array of activities protecting the border line, border markers, keeping sanitation and ensuring securities in these regions.
After the ceremony, delegates and more than 250 Youth Union members, youngsters, officials, soldiers and local people altogether collected rubbish along the Tra Co beach.
On this occasion, the organizing board presented gifts to families under preferential treatment policies and visited the Tra Co Border Guard Station.
