Quang Ninh Tourism: the door opens widely

In recent years, for the purpose of making tourism as a professional and spearhead economic sector, Quang Ninh has invested its resources and actively attracted investors to develop a synchronous infrastructure, diverse and high-end tourism services with unique cultural features of Quang Ninh.  

Breakthroughs in infrastructure and tourism products

Quang Ninh now could be proud of its modern and synchronous infrastructure, notably, Van Don International Airport not only operates domestic flights but also serves international flights to South Korea and Shenzhen (China).  

Ha Long International Cruise Port operated since late 2018, is the first specialized cruise port in Vietnam. In April, it continued to open the inland berth, cruise berth and a coastal route. In addition, Quang Ninh completed its Ha Long-Hai Phong, Ha Long–Van Don Highway systems, connect the province with domestic and abroad tourism centers.

Along with public-invested projects, a number of hotel and resort projects invested by Vietnam’s giant groups such as Sun Group, FLC, Vingroup…have created fundamental changes to the urban look.
Notably, FLC Ha Long golf club and luxury resort, Sun World Ha Long Complex, Vinpearl Ha Long on Reu Island are now a magnet for tourists…

Tourism companies have introduced new tourism products for this summer such as Ha Long Beach, sightseeing over Ha Long Bay on helicopters offered by the Heli tour, inner city sightseeing on double-decker buses by the City Tour, etc… It was estimated that on average Quang Ninh received 30,000 tourist arrivals in peak times, up 19% from the same period last year.

Tourism environment promoted

According to of the Quang Ninh Tourism Department, the improved tourism environment is the first important contributor to the Quang Ninh’s tourism success.

Secondly, the higher public awareness and active participation of local people, businesses and local government at all levels are contributing to the prosperous appearance of tourism sector. In five recent years, Quang Ninh tourism has grown sharply. 

In 2018, Quang Ninh welcomed more than 12 mill tourist arrivals including 5.2 international ones, accounting for a third of total international arrivals to Vietnam. Tourism revenue achieved 24 tril VND, up 28.1% against the figure of 2017.

In the first half of this year, 8.55 mill tourist arrivals to Quang Ninh including 2.8 mill international ones, marking a year-on-year increase of 14%. Tourism revenue brought in nearly 16 trill VND, up 25% from the same period last year.

Quang Ninh aims to develop tourism sustainably, and turns itself an attractive destination, an international tourism center. Sevice is expected to be the largest proportion in the provinces’ economic structure by 2020.
