Quang Ninh joined many other provinces and cities nationwide during the 2017 Earth Hour late on March 25 with the symbolic action of turning off unnecessary electrical devices for one hour, from 8.30pm to 9.30 to respond the Earth Hour campaign.
The province saved 61,500 kilowatt-hours (kWh) of electricity, up nearly 6,000 (kWh) against the previous year. This result presents great determination and commitment of Quang Ninh in joining hands with other localities nationwide and worldwide towards climate change, the Electricity of Quang Ninh Group’s Load Dispatch Devision said.
Themed "Turn off the lights, light up the future", the Earth Hour 2017 was a significant action in saving electricity and protecting environment for a more sustainble planet.
From its beginnings in just one city in 2007, it has become a global phenomenon reaching out to 1.8 billion people worldwide today.
Earth Hour is an opportunity for every single person around the world to unite in taking a stand against climate change and supporting the will of the public behind tackling it.
