The following are Quang Ninh’s top ten events in 2016.
During his visit to Quang Ninh in April, 2016, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong highlighted their determination in successfully implementing the resolutions of the province’s 18th Party Congress. He said: “Quang Ninh provincial authorities have showed their determination to move forward. They have more resolute and creative ways of working which have been resulted in many initiatives to boost the development in the province and the country as a whole”.
The Party leader said: “Quang Ninh needs to continue restructuring the economy to lead the country in achieving the goals of national industrialization and modernization. However, it’s important to focus on improving services first, followed by industries, agriculture and fisheries.”
2. The Government leader paid a working visit in Quang Ninh.
PM Phuc hailed the great efforts, creativeness and effectiveness of Quang Ninh in its socio-economic development. He hoped that Quang Ninh would post the highest economic growth and lead the development in the key northern economic zone. He committeed to offer Quang Ninh with the highest support in establishing the Van Don Special Administrative-Economic Zone
3.Well-organization of the election of deputies to the 14th National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels for the 2016-2021 tenure in Quang Ninh province.
Quang Ninh was one of the localities across the country that topped the list of the highest rates.
4. Celebration of the 80th anniversary of Coal industry day
Many significant works were completed to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Coal industry. Of which, one of the most notable works is the building of the statue of Mr. Vu Van Hieu, the first Secretary of the Coal Mine Special Zone .
5. Quang Ninh was among top 3 in PCI 2016 ranking. This is the first time Quang Ninh has been in top 3 in the row.
6. A wide range of key projects implemented in Quang Ninh were completed and put into operation, namely Queen Cable system; the Sun Wheel; Vinmec International hospital; Quang Ninh Expo and Fair center...Besides, other dynamic projects...were sped up like Ha Long-Hai Phong Expressway; Quang Ninh airport; Bach dang bridge and Ha Long-Van Don highway.
7. Quang Ninh continues to be the top 5 leading localities nationwide in collecting the State budget with the total of over VND 38,000 bln. The fingure shows the possitive impacts of Quang Ninh's high determination and great efforts in enhancing the effectiveness of the whole political systems, strengthening administrative reforms, improving the business climate and accompanying enterprises.
8. Cai Chien island- the last island commune in Quang Ninh was connected to the national power grid, showing highest efforts of Quang Ninh for purpose of ensuring social welfare and national defense and security at the island and sea areas.
9. Co To island was the first island district in the country to be recognized as the district conforming the new rural standards. In 2015, Dong Trieu town was inscribed in the list.
10. Quang Ninh had a successful year with great achievements in education and sports. Nguyen Ngoc Minh Hai, from Ha Long High School for the Gifted, brought home the Bronze medal at the 27th International Biology Olympiad. Besides, Quang Ninh Coal won the Super National Cup for the first time, etc.
