Quang Ninh's Chairman works with Incheon city's leaders

Continuing the working visit to RoK to learn from Korean's experiences in building a smart city, Quang Ninh's Chairman Nguyen Duc Long, along with his entourtage, had a working session with leaders of the Incheon city on Aug. 1.

At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Incheon city Dong-am shared experiences in buiding the smart city. Accordingly,  the Incheon consists of the three regions of Songdo, Cheongna, and the island of Yeongjong. The goal of the IFEZ is to transform these three areas into hubs for logistics, international business, leisure, and tourism for the Northeast Asian region. Incheon's Free Economic Zone was officially designated by the Korean government in August 2003. IFEZ is planned to be a self-contained living and business district featuring air and sea transportation, a logistics complex, an international business center, financial services, residences, schools and hospitals, and shopping and entertainment centres.

The constructtion of the smart city was conducted in 3 stages. The first phase from 2003 to 2009 focused on developing the infrastructure base for the city; the second phase from 2010 to 2016 was to investigate the local people's demands, aiming at understanding the best services that should be offerd. The last stage of 2017-2022 is to meet all the demands of the local people.

After 10 years of construction, Incheon is currently known as a smart city with the synchronous and modern infrastructure, the developed knowledge-base economy, and the appliance of the IT in rasing the effectiveness of management and providing the best facilities to the people.

Chairman Nguyen Duc Long informed that Quang Ninh province is piloting a project to  develop Ha Long City into a smart city, concentrating on the development of smart management system of tourism, services and transport, appliance of the IT in ensuring safety for the tourists, tax management, smart hospital and schools, etc. He hoped that, with its experinces and close cooperation with Quang Ninh province, Incheon city would support Quang Ninh province to successfully build the smart city.

Mr. Nguyen Duc Long also wished the leaders of the city would send the leading experts to Quang Ninh to assist the province in buiding the smart city.

For his part, the Incheon city's Vice Chairman Dong-am committeed to send the best experts to Quang Ninh to work with related functional departments of the province so that the smart city model would be sussessful in Quang Ninh. He also wished that througth this project, the cooperation tie between the Incheon city and Quang Ninh province, as well as with other cities and provinces of Vietnam, would be further developed and extended.

On the same day, Quang Ninh's delegation visited smart hospital and smart operation center of the city.
